Sketching Heritage at Tan Lan Communal House

The Architectural and Historical Essence of Tran Bien

On August 10, 2025, I joined the sixth heritage sketching trip organized by the Dong Nai Architects Association to study the spatial rhythm of Tan Lan Communal House.

(National Historical and Architectural Monument (Decision No. 457/QĐ dated March 25, 1991))

Through lines and shades, I captured the harmony of symmetry, light, and symbolic ornamentation—from dragon motifs to yin–yang tiled roofs.

Sketching on-site deepened my understanding of cultural symbolism in sacred architecture, where design transcends function to embody devotion and memory.

This experience strengthened my sensitivity toward spatial storytelling—learning how architecture preserves both faith and form, inspiring me to design with respect for history and human connection.
